New board members announced
NextStop Theatre is thrilled to announce the election of Ms. Tiffany Brittain, Ms. Dina Eagle, Ms. Lisa Merkel, and Mr. Jeff Neuman to the Board of Directors. Bringing a diverse array of skills, experience, and perspectives to our already wonderful board, we are honored to have these four exceptional leaders joining our governing body and excited for the energy and vision that they bring to our mission of service to the local community.
Tiffany Brittain comes to the board with a history of success as an artist, an administrator, and a community leader. Ms. Brittain is the Director of Strategic Initiatives at MVB Bank and a certified Project Management Professional. Prior to her work in the financial sector, Ms. Brittain worked for years in arts administration as an artistic director and an executive director with organizations in DC and Florida. She is passionate about helping to make NextStop a truly open and welcoming space for our entire, diverse community, specifically through our education and outreach initiatives.
Dina Eagle has over 25 years of experience in education, including K-12 teaching and higher education administration, where she has served for the last 14 years. During her career Ms. Eagle has worked extensively in institutional reporting, strategic planning, faculty recruitment, advising, program planning and budget oversight. Ms. Eagle first became associated with NextStop in 2017 through her daughter, who has been a frequent participant in NextStop’s various education programs and By-Kids-For-Kids programs. She is eager to use her skills to improve access and equity, to help strengthen the organization, and move NextStop’s mission and vision forward.
Lisa Merkel ended her eight year tenure as the mayor of the Town of Herndon in 2020. Throughout her years of service, Ms. Merkel was a champion for the local community and in particular, the redevelopment of the Historic Herndon Downtown, including a proposed 18,000 sf arts center as the centerpiece. One of her final acts as Mayor was signing the comprehensive agreement that will make that vision a reality over the next few years. Now as a private citizen, Ms. Merkel is proud to be offering her knowledge and experience to help prepare NextStop to be a key player in an even brighter future for Herndon and the surrounding communities.
Jeff Neuman is an attorney and the Founder and CEO of JJN Solutions, LLC., a consultancy focusing on legal and policy services related to online brand protection, domain name management, intellectual property licensing and enforcement. He is also a Broadway investor/producer, who has been involved with such shows as “Be More Chill” and the upcoming revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Company.” Mr. Neuman is an avid theater lover, with a particular passion for musical theatre and the re-imagining of the artform. He hopes to assist NextStop in building the infrastructure and financial support necessary to be increasingly bold and creative in our work.
